Lampworked beads
DESCRIPTION
By Aurélie Wellenstein and Emmanuel Sztuka, translated by Steve et Karen Linn
Lampworking is not limited to laboratory test tubes production. With a lamp, the glassworker can also model sculptures, characters, or jewels. He uses crystal rods or sodocalcic glass rods (types of glass offering a broad pallet of colours) and creates his models of collection beads.
The bead occurs in the heat of the flame, twisted around a metal mandrel (brass).
The artist handles glass in fusion and decorates his object with meticulousness, between experiment and sorcery: indeed the real color will appear only when the bead leaves the furnace... In this film, Emmanuel Sztuka shows you basically how to create your models and works with varied decorations which will enable you to assemble your own adornements.
